Rounds and Swingabouts

The Blue Woman Knight and her Partner the Blue Knight took their Child Knight to the playground, just by the great curtain wall which protected the eternal city of Az. It wasn’t really eternal but sometimes it felt that way.

First the Child Knight went on the swings. Whilst the parental Knights sat upon a bench to resolve the world and rebond their bonding.

One of us must go questing to rediscover the Joy, said the BWK, I think that it must be me, as you are a better parent and a dab hand at the bedtime story. The Child Knight moved to the sand pit.

Rounds and Swingabouts

Don’t go in the sand darling, you’ll get sand in your armour, called the BWK, the Child Knight moved to a climbing frame, removed her gauntlets and climbed up into a little structure at the top. He took out his sword and waved it out of the window, in the general direction of his parents.

Don’t play with your sword while there are other children about darling, we have been through this. The young Knight put away her sword.

Fine said ye BK to the BWK, on condition you take care and wear your armour at all times. Except in the bathroom, obviously.

Then it is decided, I shall quest far as necessary and no more, as I am already missing you. I feel that I shall uncover enough Joy for us all. The BWK left with her entourage and baggage handlers.

The Blue Knight put his young child Knight to bed who request a story of the Sphinx.

Once or twice, began the BK, When the Sphinx was yet a small of some five hundred springs, she found, as she passed along the desert alone, a creature not seen in this reality afore. Seventeen legs adorned claws of a bird, the back, a forest of ice glowing, the neck wider than the road of temples, its forehead across a football pitch without the white lines, its teeth in its face showing, the eyes standing outwards in round vision. In colour, all colours, in temperament quite pleasant but prone to depression, quick to anger, eating only plants and animals, no rocks or winds.

What is the creature called? said the sleepy Child Knight, snuggling down.

Alain, said the BK, She Sphinx, in all interest, enquired the time of day and passing pleasantries en passant. Alain, found out in a very bad mood, attacked with all her seventeen claws, but could not prevail. The Sphinx, laughing, offered assistance, as she was familiar with all parts, having circumnavigated the globe several times.

I need a home, said Alan, a crevice in a wall or grotto beneath a towering inferno would suffice, but I am will to try anything. I have been wandering these weeks and need to rest as my fourteenth knee is sore. May I rest a while in this cave.

If I crawled to the back of the cave where the claws or jaws of the offensive beast could not reach, I might find a diagram, drawing or memorial inscription. In my wildest, this might be just the beginning, the end of the first thread, the first syllable of the first word of an histoire. Which, on following, deciphering, pulling on, would lead to an understanding of the right and wrong, the questions answered, the place of Joy found.

OK, said She Sphinx, this is a comfortable looking cave over there, But I cannot guarantee any answers therein inscribed. And she makes adieu and entertaining neither cause nor causality, steps beyond the realm of this dream, which is her power and right, to sit with the bedside of the small Knight with the BK.

Do you think that the world will be a happy place for your small responsibility? She Sphinx indicated the sleeping.

I have high hopes of happinesses in store but can neither predict, answered the BK, I am sure that there will be a rich and vibrant tapestry available which is a comfort. I shall equip my responsibility with both sword and pen, the best to sail merrily the seas of uncertainty ahead.

For my part, say she Sphinx, I promise to do my best to protect them in the after time when it is given to me the power.

Thank you said the BK, your are a faithful friend and the beauty of your tail is unsurpassed.

I know, muttered the Sphinx resting her chin upon a mighty paw.
