Now the Sphinx awoke and saw the wisps of Dark War flow away. She knew that once the Dogs and Cats of War were unleashed then there was no means to call them to heel, other than this.
I see, e said, that war has come to trouble the world once more. I know that you, the Blue and Yellow Knights, might or indeed might not prevail against the forces of war, but it is the madness that drives the war machines that must be stopped. Because I am a creature of that other world, wherein the madness has made its home, I may be able to come to your aid on this front.
How then, O Sphinx, and in what manner may you be our ally, asked the Blue and Yellow Woman Knight.
Thus, said the Sphinx, I can sense the forces of chaos when they go shopping for lethal munitions, loading their shopping bags full with lies and propaganda to hide and justify the bloodshed. They are invisible to you mortals. I shall set upon them with my other worldly claws that will disrupt the Brownian motion of their constituent parts, and this will weaken the supply lines of evil intent.
That sounds just the ticket, said the Blue and Yellow Woman Knight, who had taken on a cockney accent for effect. We shall hold their feet to the fire whilst you mess with their heads.
And so it came to pass that the Sphinx became the ally of the innocent and drew e self up in opposition to the Forces of Chaos, carrying their bags full of lies.
I shall tear your puny Bags 4 Life to shreds with my claws, e cried, just you wait. And with that e rushed at them in a great leap.
When e was flying at them, they came apart and re-joined without trouble, but their Bags full of Lies were shredded, as e had predicted, and the lies were revealed in all their filth.
Next that day more of the war creatures came from the swamp of Despair and the Blue and Yellow Knights were sore put to despatch this new assault.
We find ourselves in need of all the assistance that we can muster, let us now send forth a message to our allies for aid and sustenance, that we might win through.
So, they sent out some messages to all who might listen in their hour of need.
The message went thus: Please may we have your sharp swords, javelins, great spears, arrows (and bows), trebuchets, clubs, war hammers, scythes, pikes, halberds, glaives, rapiers, morning stars, maces, flails, bludgeons and battle axes.
Also, if you had a mind to save the innocent and safeguard the forces of progress, then you might come yourselves to wield these mighty weapons.
