The Blue Knight and his fair companion sailed to the seas where the waves were at its most power.
Then the Blue Knight took his burden of words out and made to deliver them at once into the cleansing waters. The timbers of the deck were slick with water, and he held fast as he might the words spilled forth and fell about and about upon the wet. While some flew into the water straight and rested there, still others moved across the decks, to left and right, to and fro, they made a meaning or no meaning. The words became nonsense and sense in one change. He saw, the knight saw the words come together and they said to him, of this, told him, of that, till his mind was chased around like a boat in the waters.
Finally came his companion and together they held the words once more and brought them to the brink and flung them in and watched them sink.
In the water, the words came down amongst the fish and they were sore frightened, some said that this coming of strange certainty into the watery depths might shake their world view and decided to make a new life by jumping out upon the land. But this was not a great success and they passed away.

Other fish that were common there and very small, came to the words and took the path of cleaning them where they lay as they would a great fish or turtle. The words, full of letters were rocked by the passing and slow, but slow, found a new light within rose up in the surface.
The Blue Knight and his fair companion took the nets with which once they had tried to tie the great serpent and cast them out upon the waters, there. Pulling up a fine catch of clean words, clean and freshly unbroken, ready to play their part in the clear description of our world and its many and various ways.
They lay them there upon the decks in the sunshine that they might dry and in doing so made a poem. They turned them over to dry and the poem was backwards. Then, when they were dry, they were marshaled into a bag where they could write their own stories.
Now that it was done, the ship set sail once more to the rocky home shores. The Blue Knight took away his armour, the helm and gauntlets, breast plate and cuirass, his poleyn, cuicces and sabotens. He lay down with his fair companion and he was not alone.

In the morning fair, in the light that came, he woke once more. The ship was tied by the shore and not hurting the rocks. But find as he might his companion was there none of his helm and gauntlets, his breast plate and cuirass, his poleyn, cuisses and sabotens were gone or hidden, but gone, and although, hurt as he might, he knew that it was just and fair that his fair companion should take her turn to quest upon the world, wherein he had quested himself so long alone. Only solaced by the friendship of Vivainne and Ser Constance who stood by him true.

The Blue Woman, now become the enchanted Blue Knight, found herself alone upon the rocky shore. All armoured full with blue mail about, she came to the war horse that she found there, which seemed to know her, although she knew herself not, neither her name nor whence she had sprung. Only that she must quest this world and make adventure of honour.
Mounting on the horse, she set out, sword and spear, shield and pennant, she set out into the wild lands and darkening forest wherein she must make her way. She knew that this was right and that all must find themselves betimes upon this hard road.
