The Robin and the Sun

The Robin flew to the Sun, it flew high to the Sun, in its beak a ladle for to use and take and fill full of the Sun away. As the Robin came to the sun it was too hot and the Robin must hide behind the ladle for relief.

The Robin bird spoke to the sun saying, I have come to ask for a piece of Sun for the people of Avnot, that they may be warmed in the winter and might stop the burning of trees. But the Sun did not answer as it was busy listening to the song of the stars. The Robin knew that he must be given permission from the Sun or risk its wrath and so he sang his song to the Sun from behind his ladle.

The Sun had not heard any song, other than the song of the stars, since the time of its birth and was enraptured to hear the song of the Robin. When the song was over, the Robin asked the Sun once more if it could take a tiny piece of Sun and the Sun replied, in a voice greater than all voices, You may have a piece of me if you vow to return each year and to sing unto me a new song, this song I will add to the song of the stars that all might know the song of the Robin. The Robin vowed to sing and has been singing each year since, in return the sun granted the heat that was required, each year, by the City of Aznot.

The Robin dropped the ladle, which fell to earth in a desert and was recovered, and took a peck out of the Sun, taking a small piece in its beak. He came flying down to the City of Aznot. It took the piece of Sun to the people, where they put it at the heart of the city, so it sat glowing. The warmth came out in pipes that they lay and by airs there, with warm stones all in the homes and places that the people came to be. In the places of making and of learning and of common endeavor, the heat came to make these places comfortable for the people there.

Now the trees grew great and many in the country around the city, stately and green, healing the land and cleaning the airs. The creatures of the woods and forests came there again in high numbers with their ways and webs of life that lay unseen about them, in the air and in the earth.

The waters of the rains were kept into the ground by the woods and forests instead of flowing quickly away carrying the richness of the soil.

The people of the city might have comfort in their homes and their children might breathe the clean air. Clean air in the places that they were.

The webs of life in the forests enriched the layers and diversity that was required to keep the world about to its nicety.

The Citiy of Az and the City of Aznot

Then all the people and creatures of the Cities of Az and Aznot agreed that the Robin was a bird of great value. This was on a Thursday.
