The shipe sailed quiet and Vivainne and the Blue Knight did read the sun and the stars as they had been shown right by the elders on the Isle of Others, the darkness of night came in the day and the waters fell black and oily. With this Vivainne knew that their path must soon cross the realm of the Sea Nymphs through which, they had been warned, they must pass. This realm was a place of terror for all mortal travellers, as the Sea Nymphs were wont to torment those sailing in their waters with music so sweet that the unfortunate sailors would dive to the sea and swim to the music and their deaths.

Vivainne and the Blue Knight knew of stories in which the Captain of a ship had tied himself to the mast whilst his crew plugged their ears with wax in order that he might hear the sweet music, but they decided that, such was their desire to return home, that they would forgo this joy in return for a safe passage and so they both plugged their ears and sailed on into the sea nymph’s waters.
Soon they could see the Nymphs flying low about a rocky isle and as they drew close it was to see scattered on that rock the bones and skulls of many bewitched sailors drawn by the sweet singing voices.
The Sea Nymphs came and flew close to the shipe, and Vivainne and the Blue knight could see the anger twisting their beautiful faces as they saw that their singing went unheard. They came closer and tried to tear the sail with their claws but Vivainne and the Blue Knight rose up with their sharp swords high until the nymphs must fly away to their island of bones.

The shipe soon came into a better place where more light came and the sea was like unto itself and in some many days the shores of home were come into sight. As night was soon to fall down they made anchor in the sea where it was safe until the morning could bring them home careful through the rocks. As they slept a cruel wind blew like a sudden wild beast and threw them about, first this way and then that until the shipe was thrown upon the rock and broke apart there.
Vivainne was flung in the cold water and found only the chest of treasures from the Isle of Others to cling onto and it was thus that she was cast upon the shore with her armour, her armament and everything lost, her clothing in tatters and torn. The Blue Knight was also cast there like some flotsam that was set adrift.
