The Quest for the Healing Cup

The knights traveled wide and far distant lands and separate to quest for the cup that heals. It was hot to travel so much and far away in the south, her horse was hot, the sun was hot in the desert. Constance, a Knight Exemplar and Guardian of the Cave, beloved of Vivainne Desgur, came in on her horse, searching in the desert till she could not find it, nor the others, lost.

By herself sitting under a lone tree, the desert was not to be seen. So hot, so far, hard days, then a small lizard which was there was digging in the sand by a plant which was not there. She slept and, in her fevered dreams, she was taken to a tower top in the desert whence a map in the sand shewed the plant in its home place. When she awoke, she went to the place and the plant was there but the next day it was gone.

Here we see an image of Constance gathering the Healing Herbs. It is interesting to note that she has been positioned very much in the traditional representations of Angels, reflecting the high regard in which she came to be held

Constance followed it to a valley and so as came into the lost valley in the heart of the desert where a spring had its mouth open. The plant grew in profusion everywhere in the valley. She took it and took it away, packed the leaves carefully not to hurt the plant, once the plant was hurt there would no more. She took the healing herbs away and when she looked back the valley had disappeared into the desert with the lizard.

Here we see the relevant page from the Book of the Guardians. It is not known which desert plant she gathered but it is assumed that it was a plant that grew around a secluded oasis somewhere in North Africa.

She saw the valley with the herbs and then it was not and yet in her saddle bags lay the many leaves for which she had searched and took them home when she met with the other questing knights so far from home. There she told how the lizard had taken her hand by her hand to guide her through the desert and they laughed until she showed the leaves and then they laughed no more that day and were amazed.

Constance was quiet and cryed when she came with Vivainne once more, she was feeling many things and her mind and body were sore tested. Vivainne praised her and all her being with love and admiration what had been done.

When the Knights came with the Healing Cup to the Unjust Lord, he gave up unto Celeste her children into her embrace once more, as had been sworn, and it was seen a good thing. The Token of the Guardians of the Cave was seen there.

Vivainne talked long with the Blue Knight, he was not to be a Knight Exemplar because his heart was yet troubled, when he was free of trouble then he might. Vivainne, when she asked of his trouble he took her back to converse concerning the Doors of Death through which he had occasion to send some few people in his past.

He knew that he needs must follow his Quest until the place on the other side of the Doors of Death was made plain, then he could understand, so then he left with his armour all blue to see that which is hidden.
