Constance was full recovered she said her Tale, how she came to lie still in the clearing.
One morning, bright as any morning, like a bright morning so clear, Constance happened upon an woman in the forest who begged protection from a ravening beast which came each night to fright her. Constance vowed to rid the woman of this beast and they traveled to the woman’s life. At arrival, Constance was surprised to see many knights lying flat on the ground, some sore wounded and yet others seeming in full health, but all still, as if in sleep.
Constance straight turned about to wit the circumstance which brought these Knights, lying there, so low. As she turned about, the woman from the forest commanded by some strong enchantment that Constance to fight all the other Knights when the sun shewed its face and to fall and lie still when the sun’s face was hid.

Constance felt no power to refuse and when the sun came out, she and the other knights that still remained alive, rose and did battle. As Constance fought for her very life, she noticed that hid high in a tree a knight with Blue armour who was not enchanted. When the woman turned, the Blue Knight jumped and laid out the woman with an swift blow. The battling knights there fell in a swoon and lay still as if in death. They were yet alive but were still held by an invisible hand. The Blue Knight vowed to take care of them until a remedy could be found that would revive the frozen knights.

The Blue Knight bound the woman in tight so that when she came awake she could not make more enchantments. The woman woke and was passing angry by what had come, but the Blue Knight shewed his patience until the woman could tell how this affair came to pass.
