This is a page taken from the Book of the Guardians of the Cave showing the demise of Prince Elmere. It is clear from several sources that the King had his brother, Prince Elmere, killed to remove any opposition to his power. The knight Ser Berist the Boneheart apparently pushed Prince Elmere down a stone staircase near the great hall after the feast which was held to celebrate the coming tournament. The King subsequently covered up the murder and passed it off as an accident. Shortly after these events Ser Beris was sent on a quest to find the Simple Stone. It has been suggested that this was to prevent him revealing the truth about Prince Elmere.
